When first starting a personal growth journey it can seem a little bit intimidating. Not to mention overwhelming. It’s like starting a new project… It may be the biggest project you have taken on. You know working on yourself is not an easy task. To lighten your load a bit I wanted to share 5 ways you can improve yourself daily for free.
When you first become self-aware that something has gotta change in your life and you slowly realize that change is you. Quickly you grab your phone and do a google, YouTube, or Pinterest search. “How to start a personal Growth Journey“, “How to improve myself” or maybe you want to do a 6-month glow-up challenge. It is ALWAYS something along those lines.
It is the same thing over and over
You are doing your due diligence by being a studious person… grabbing pieces of paper left and right to jot down notes to get you started. Because you are committed to the growth of yourself. But it’s always the same things over and over.
READ
JOURNAL
WORKOUT
EAT HEALTHY
Which isn’t lies, but still …
BOOKS -Not all of us have never-ending book fair funds…
JOURNALING – is great highly recommend it, but when first starting you see everyone with these beautifully decorated journals and think you have to go out and spend money on a pretty notebook, art, scrapbooking, and chachkies to journal.
WORKING OUT – This is a great thing to add to your daily routine, but not all of us have the money for a gym membership… Some of them be getting REALLY expensive.
EATING HEALTHY – Important, but also can be expensive if you don’t know what you are doing. ( pushing the fresh veg to the back of the fridge and forgetting it’s there… WE HAVE ALL DONE IT and probably still do it)
Improve yourself daily
Wanting to improve yourself shouldn’t cost money, but sometimes it does. There are people who just want to help others succeed by putting out information to help you along whatever journey you are on. If you appreciate the information the person has given to you… please go support them in some way to show your gratitude.
My list may look a little similar to the list I mentioned above, but… I am trying to bawl on a budget here. Being on a personal growth journey myself I have done my fair share of due diligence to find ways to help me along this journey financially…
Reading
As I have mentioned before those of us who do not have book fair money… but reading should be included when you want to improve yourself.
Check out Z-library you can download PDF or EPUB versions of a lot of books. If you do not have a kindle and the book you want to read is an EPUB file you can also use this EPUB to PDF converter. Also, If you love the book you have read please go support the author and buy the physical book. If and when you have the money. They should get paid for their hard work.
If you are looking to read books faster download the app Spreeder. This app can help train you to read quickly without losing comprehension. You can also set challenges for yourself on how many words to read.
Also if you want to listen to classical audiobooks like Oscar Wilde: The Complete Interviews or Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (version 7). They are recorded by volunteers through LibriVox.org.

Writing
I told you my list may look similar. LOL but they ain’t wrong. You don’t need all the mumbo jumbo knick-knacks to journal. I have journaled with a broken crayon and a half-used notebook. You make do with what you have when that is ALL you have.
Journaling is essential when you want to improve yourself. If you are unsure where to start… I have a few posts that may help you out.
Yet, again, another shameless plug… I have a bunch of journal related content that you might be interested in like:

Online workouts for daily improvement
As I mentioned before some gym membership prices can be a little pricey… But that doesn’t mean you can’t get a good workout in. I love getting my steps in each day. So I can either go outside and walk around my block or check out YouTube. YouTube is a gold mine for great workouts. I want to share a few of my favorite walking/dance/fun workouts to help your daily improvement.

Learn about Art to improve yourself daily
Get your daily dose of art. With this free app called Daily Art. You can expand your knowledge of art with the click of a button. I think this is a great way for daily improvement. Honestly, I don’t think I have ACTIVELY looked at a piece of art in quite a few years. Sometimes you forget how really beautiful it can be. So add more art to your life and be a bit fancier with the useless random facts you know about pieces of art.
Improve yourself daily
It’s normal to get caught up in trying to become the best version of yourself. But Improving yourself daily doesn’t have to cost an arm and leg… You just kinda have to know where to look. One thing I hope you keep in mind is that there are MANY, MANY ways for daily improvement and those offered here are just a few.
Take a little time to try each one out. So you can find ones that bring you the most joy in improving yourself daily. Find what works for you and try to build them into your daily life. It may take a bit to get in the swing of things. That is the game of creating new habits.
Until next time, have a great day! Remember you are a badass!
I love your take on journaling! I had a friend who had to make a big production of it. Her journal looked great but it was a chore rather than an outlet! I have nothing against a pretty journal but especially when you’re angry or stressed you just want to get that out on paper not worry about penmanship or having to draw 16 photos of your day! You’re right it does work if you let it!
I mean I do love a decorated journal and sometimes make videos on Youtube of me decorating pages, but sometimes it does become a chore. Then it defeats the purpose of journaling. It has been a while since I have decorated journal pages because it does take so much time. I do enjoy it, but not when it becomes something I HAVE TO DO.
All things I try to do everyday! I love the idea of improving ourselves.
It is a great thing to want to improve ourselves.
These are great ways to improve yourself daily. You can’t go wrong with learning and bettering your mental and physical healthy. I love that all of these things are FREE.
That was the biggest thing for me when creating this list. Sometimes I just don’t have the extra money to do all of these things. Money shouldn’t stop you from growing and expanding your mind.
These are all excellent tips. You can find tons of online workouts to do that cost you nothing. The rest of these are great, as well.
I agree there are A LOT of great workouts online. You just have to find one that works for you.
I read every day. I have my kindle connected to our local library to download books on there. I’ll have to check out the z-library for other options, too. And we have the apple fitness to do morning workouts. I definitely notice a difference in my energy levels on the mornings my husband and I do a workout and the mornings we skip it.
Oh, that is awesome. I didn’t know you could connect a kindle to a library. That comes in handy I bet.
I really need to get back into reading, it relaxes me and calms my mind. Thank you for the tips!!
I push myself to read one chapter a day. I usually end up reading more, but I start with one.
Working out is very important. Some even see it as therapeutic too.
Yes, it can be VERY therapeutic. I know I do when I work out.
These are good things to think about doing on a daily basis. Now that I am in my 40’s, I am trying to make a concerted effort to take better care of myself and make improvements.
I am doing the same thing in my 30s.
I like reading and it’s true that it can help to improve us. These are good ideas and don’t need to spend so much money. Thank you for sharing!
You are so welcome, Fransic!
You are spot-on, the prices of things and activities that are supposed to help you physically and mentally are getting a bit crazy. Which just ends up adding another stressor on top of everything you’re already stressing about. But these are some great alternatives or adjustments that can be made to save you some money while still improving yourself daily! Great post.
Absolutely. Prices are getting a little bit out of hand. I love finding ways to adjust what I am working on and find something that works for me and my budget.
I agree, we need to spend on self-care. Not all the time, but when you can, do so. I don’t pay for gym, but I do buy books and journals and skin care.
Self-care is important. It is not something you need to do every day, but as long as you have some go-to options when you feel like you need it. You should be fine.
Great tips and I think I have been doing these on your list on a daily basis. Nice to know how to get it organized with your putting it in perspective 🙂
Yeah, sometimes organization can be a bitch. It just takes practice and a lot of patience with yourself.
These sound like amazing tips to better yourself. I am on a journey to do so but I don’t know where to start so this was very helpful.
Joyce if you have any questions please send me a message. I am not selling anything. I just want to help people who just need a little help to start.
I definitely need to push myself to journal more. I have some terrible self-esteem issues, and I know that journaling would probably help me there.
It is a constant struggle on a daily. I have my good and bad days, but I want the good to outweigh the bad. If you need someone to talk to… I am here for you.
Great post! I’m trying to read more to improve myself but free online workouts are such a great idea too!
Anything that you can do to make yourself better than you were the day before is a win in my book. Do what makes YOU happy.
This is great advice Michelle, consistency is key! something I struggle with ATM but am working towards being disciplined again!
I think we all have our days where discipline is easy then there are days where it just won’t happen. LOL There is no need to beat yourself up about it. You pick up where you left off and continue on about your business.
It’s indeed important to workout every once in a while. Even now that I’m pregnant, I still do my best to some yoga and breathing exercises. Thanks for these tips!
Congrats on your pregnancy! That is amazing. Exercise I think needs to be done multiple times a week. But doesn’t need to be done every day if you are not into that. If you are awesome. You got more willpower than me. LOL
These are beneficial tips! It’s so important to never stay stagnant, and to improve ourselves. I’m looking forward to taking a new course online for my business soon!
That is awesome you are working to improve you/your business. It is always something to strive for. To be just a little bit better than you were the day before. Learn something new!
I am going to try to Coursea in May to learn something. I love learning and it is what I want to do for the month as I want to just learn.
That would be an awesome challenge for May. Learn as many things as you can. Expand your mind! I might have to join you on that journey.
I couldn’t agree more! Journaling and exercise do help a lt in maintaining my well-being especially when the pandemic greatly devastated our old usual routines!
Absolutely!
Great advice! I certainly recommend getting into the habit of writing, even just a paragraph daily! It can really help.
It really does help. Keeps my mind clear. LOL
Journaling is such a therapeutic way to go out emotions, plan, and even set up visions…this is such an amazing piece of writing! Amazing work.
Thank you so much, Aanya! I appreciate your comment.
