Today August 10, 2019, marks a change in my future. This Saturday is the day the family I am closest to is moving to South Carolina. My family is moving out of state. I have never lived without my sister and my nephews.
They are about to embark on a big journey in their life that will be better for them in the long run. This post is to show to everyone how awesome and amazing my family is! My family is moving out of state.
Jennifer has always been my biggest supporter. She is the reason why I am the way I am today. She always wanted more for me and my brother Gregg. When I was 14 years old is when our lives got better. My sister welcomed a baby boy into this world. Matthew is now 20 years old. Then when I was 19 my sister welcomed another baby boy into this world. Nathan now 15. From 19 til now, a lot of our time was spent being just the 4 of us.
We have taken many many trips and even hanging out at home we knew how to entertain ourselves. My sister and I have instilled upon my nephews our quick wit and sarcasm. So now anything that came out of our mouths was an insult of some sort that would make us all laugh. We are each funny but together it’s a million times worse. These are the most important people in my life.
Let’s start with my youngest nephew, Nathan.
Nathan was the cutest little toddler. I remember when he would sit in the van with his fake “Coffee” cup (it was hot chocolate). How he would read the newspaper (even though he didn’t know how to read yet). He would have an attitude with you if you told him anything different.
Nathan has grown up so fast from being my little bubba. Thank you for always down to make a YouTube video with us. Like when we went to the park, ate disgusting pizza, or did the spicy noodle challenge. I love that you thought Mike and I were cool and wanted to hang out with us.
Love when you would dance to “Gangnam Style” or when you sang “Like I’m going to lose you” by Meghan Trainor. I still sing it that way. I will never delete the video of your voicemail you memorized from an old lady calling the wrong number. Never forget Ruby and Jan. You are one of the funniest people I know. I am glad to know you take after me and your mother with your quick wit and sarcasm.
You are the smart one in our group
You are so smart, smarter than all of us combined, teaching us new things every day. I love that you are so creative and play instruments. You enjoy making art projects. You get your singing from me. I couldn’t have said it any better than Dwayne Johnson in Moana “What can I say except you’re welcome!”
Nathan, My favorite memory of you, although there too many to name. The one that stands out the most is when Nathan was about 3 or 4 and we were waiting for my sister to get off of work. So I spit a spitball at him hitting him right between the eyes. I thought you were going to get upset but you laughed and in your cutest little voice you replied: “Can I try?” I taught you how to do your first spitball!
My Oldest Nephew, Matthew
Matthew, my oldest nephew. I will always be mad at you when you were firstborn. All you did was sleep. I would come home from school wanting to play with and hold you, but I couldn’t because you were sleeping. Nothing has changed when I come over now to play with and hold you, you are still sleeping. LOL
You have grown up to be such a good man. Any woman you have a relationship with will be lucky. You have grown up to a fine-looking young man. You are the most caring person I know. The many times you tried to give me gas money for taking you somewhere before you got your license. I am your aunt I will always do it for free. Matthew, you never ask for anything and you are so grateful when something is done for you.
Matthew is the sweetest
You do not have a mean bone in your body unless provoked. Then the attitude of me and your mother come out combined. We taught you well young padawan. Like that time in Fort Lauderdale when you yelled a 4 letter word that most people don’t like. But we couldn’t blame you for saying it. What happened that night called for it.
The older you have gotten over the years the more of a best friend you have become than a nephew. You are also another one of the funniest people I know. Someone says a joke and you play off of it and take it to a whole other level. I love that you are always down to try Hot Sauces we make or when I baked homemade bread.
Your memory impresses me when you remember going to places when you were 3 or 4. You can still point them out to this day even though you had only been there once. Except when it comes to school and I “helped” you do your homework so you could graduate.
My favorite memory
Matthew, my favorite memory of you, although again there too many to name. The one that stands out the most is when Matthew was when he was about 10-12 years old. We convinced you to get on the tire swing at Sim’s Park and you got “stuck” getting off of it. I’m so glad in your time of need. I didn’t help you I recorded it. It what family does. I will cherish that memory and laugh out loud when I watch it.
I like that the memories I love most, I have on video. This is why I always recorded everything back in the day to have these memories to look back at.
Now for my sister, Jennifer.
Never would I have thought my sister would be my best friend in the whole wide world. Since there is an age gap between us the age of her youngest son. When I was younger she thought I was an annoying younger sister and I thought she was old. A friendship would never happen.
Yet, I was wrong. I was so wrong. I will be 34 years old in 9 days and I have never lived a day without my best friend, my sister. Sure there have been months that we hadn’t talked, (Bon Jovi) but you were still in the same town. You were always a *quick* car ride away if I needed you.
You were my mom
Growing up you were more of a mother to me than our own mother was. She knew it, hell we all knew it. You were always the one who took me school shopping, bought me my first bra, and always took me out to do things. I went on my first vacation because of you. I got to leave the state of Florida. Since you knew mom never left the house.
You always worried about me and Gregg and made it part of your duties to make sure we always had what we needed. You also got into plenty of fights with mom about taking care of us. Like when I got Mono, Acute Bronchitis, and Pneumonia all at the same time. You MADE mom take me the hospital.
As I got older I realized I wanted to be just like you. Yay me! Mission accomplished! I am you to a T. Throughout all the bad friends and boyfriends I had you were always there to steer me on the right path. You were and always will be my life coach. All you ever wanted was for us not to have a bad childhood. I can’t say that didn’t happen, but because of you my best memories always involved you and the boys.
My family is moving out of state
Returning the favor
Now that I am an adult I am returning the favor and being your life coach. I am your biggest supporter. I am always pushing you to be the strong, independent woman I know you are. Even when you don’t think you are.
It is because of you I learned how to stand up for myself. It’s because of you I have a family of my own. I would have never gone out on a date with Mike if it wasn’t for you. You were going to message him back if I didn’t.
Thank you for pushing me. 7 years later and we are still together building a life. Thank you for that! This is the best relationship I have a been in.
You are my favorite memory
My favorite memory of Jen is how crazy she was. She would always be the first one to come to our defense. Like when you were going to fight a 14-year-old girl for me while you were pregnant.
She was bullying me and said she would kick you in your stomach and make you lose your baby. You pulled up to the bus stop like a bat out of hell and yelled for her to get off the bus. She slowly slid her way off the bus and ran home.
You made us all jump in your van and you drove to her house. You then explained what happened to her Aunt and she got in mad trouble.
Or how about this memory
Oh better yet that time when I was like 8 or 9 you were babysitting me at the house on Richwood and I wanted to go outside. You told me I couldn’t and I threw a big ass hissy fit. When you weren’t looking I slid out the back sliding door. You noticed I was outside Came running out to me, chasing me around the outside of the house. We must have run around the house 2 or 3 times.
Since you were like 13 or 14 years older, you were smarter. You came in the front door and went to the back door and waiting for me to come by that door. You jumped out and grabbed me. Scared the shit out of me, but you caught me. That makes me laugh now.
The best moments in my life
Some of the best moments in my life happened with these 3 weirdos! These 3 amazing people right here are my best friends. I am sad to see them moving out of state, but it will be better in the long run for you guys. We will text and talk on the phone all the time. I will miss knowing you guys are not just around the corner.
Please don’t forget about me while you start a new journey in your life because living away from family is hard. Just know that you always have a place to stay when you want to come to visit and I will come to visit you any chance I get.
You guys deserve some peace and quiet to get your life where you want it to be. Even though I will be in Florida I will still be cheering you guys on from the sidelines. You are my family and just know I wouldn’t have survived my shitty ass childhood without you guys! I love you and will miss you so much. Words cannot express. My family is moving away and its going to be hard.
Until Next Time. Have a Good Day!

Talk about going out of your comfort zone! you inspire me
I haven’t lived outside of Florida, but one of these days.
You have a great family support system. You are so lucky, Michele.
Thank you Ramil!
I’m sorry to hear this, I am sure you will be able to go on some amazing holidays to visit.
I still spoke to my family everyday when I moved away, I am sure they will keep intouch daily too!
We are just living our lives, but try to talk as much as we can.
What an exciting time for you. Although I prefer moving to new countries over new states, it is a good change.
I am not moving. My family is. I am staying right here in Florida.
These are such great memories! And it’s wonderful how you were able to capture them and remember each one as well. You have a very strong support system right there! You are very blessed with your relationships within your family. And yeah, it is hard to part ways with people that matter most.
Thank you so much, CA!
Moving can be such a big headache but also exciting. Looking forward to hearing about what’s next in your next chapter! – Knycx journeying
Well, I am not moving, my family did. I am okay being in Florida for now…
Have you been able to see them since they moved out of the state? Or did the relationship between your family changed?
They have come down twice and I have gone up once. We don’t talk as much when we are in 2 different states. But once we are all in one state and together it’s like nothing changed.
This is such a lovely, fun, and moving post. One can feel your love for those close to your heart in every word you write.
I love them so freakin much!
