Since I posted a couple of weeks ago a post about online brain games to sharpen your mind. I have fallen back in love with playing mind-boosting online games because they aren’t just fun, they are conditioning my brain to be sharper. In my day-to-day life, I can see that I am on autopilot. I don’t want to spend my days like that. So why not give me the little kick in the tooshie that I need to use my brain. LOL
For just a little “me” time I have been trying out some new games on Solitaire.org. I originally went on there to play solitaire, but I found some really good games to play. So I want to share 4 games that I have been obsessing over.
The first thing I love is that there are no ads. No interruptions distracting you from getting your game on. I have lost track of time while playing these games.
PLAY ONLINE GAMES
Letter Scramble
This game looked easy. It’s Letter scramble… I will admit I was a little cocky when I started playing this game. How hard is it to see the letter tiles floating onto the screen and make a word? Does not sound difficult AT ALL! You have a time limit and a certain number of words you are to make in that time frame. I was quickly handed a piece of humble pie by the 3rd round. As you can see from the picture. I lost.
Gin Rummy
Not gonna lie Gin Rummy took me a hot minute to get the hang of again. I used to play this game all the time with my mom. The first couple of hands I kept discarding the cards I needed because I thought you had to lay them down. So I would pick the card to make a book and click the play button to the left and all it did was discard the card I needed and then reorganize all my cards. I quickly learned YOU KEEP ALL THE CARDS IN YOUR HAND!!!
Once I got the hang of it oh I was in it to win it, baby! I get very competitive only with myself though. These rounds go very quickly. I am not happy with my score, but it is definitely better than when I first tried playing. I wish I would have screen-capped that to share with you guys.
PLAYING ONLINE GAMES
Solitaire
Of course, I am going to include Solitaire again because who doesn’t love a good old solo card game. This is a game I can play when I want to take a break from blogging, but don’t want to leave my desk because if I do I will lose the motivation to go back to blogging. LOL, So I just open it in a new tab play a few hands then switch back to blogging.
I have found it really does help boost my mood and brain to write blog posts. Since participating in Blogtober and writing every day for 31 days. It has become easier to write posts. I have almost all of my posts written until the end of December and I have some half-finished bonus blog posts. I definitely think that blogtober and playing these online games have really helped boost my brain.
Also, I beat my personal best time-wise. Normally it takes me about 7 or 8 minutes to finish a game of Solitaire if it is meant to work out. In this round, I beat the game in 6 minutes and 7 seconds. Always trying to one-up myself! LOL
Word Search
This game was a challenge. I love word searches and I forgot the words could be backward. Anyone else used to buy these books back in the day and spend hours finding the words? The books never lasted in my house. I love this one because they have daily word searches. The puzzle changes daily and you can go back and pick the date you want to solve.
I mean it wasn’t bad for 3 minutes and 46 seconds. I definitely thought it took me a lot longer. Halcyon was the word that gave me the most trouble because the word is spelled backward. It doesn’t look right to me. It still doesn’t look right to me. But I am a winner!
Spending time playing online games
This has become a daily routine for me. It has been a while since I have pushed my brain to the max. Sometimes I get annoyed and over it… Other times I am ready to write a novel! However, I feel for that day all I know is that my brain is going to thank me for it later.
A quote that I love to live by and have written on a post on my computer was said by Sophia Amoruso. The author of Girl Boss. Her book is on my list of books to read for personal growth. But she said, “Treat your mind like your money, don’t waste it!” That is so true. You don’t want to waste your money on non-important things or things that don’t benefit you… why do that to your mind?
What are some things you like to do to strengthen your mind? Let me know in the comments!
Until Next Time, Have a Great Day!
I love games with words so thank you for showing me where I can play these online!
You are very welcome!
I have never tried these games but reading your blog I feel like trying now. Fun and mind boosters.
They can become quite addictive. LOL
I loved playing Solitaire, but I think last time I played was 10 years ago. 🙂
It is my go-to now when I have a little downtime.
Great games, I love to try games that can help improve my mind and thinking. Will give these a try. Thank you for sharing!
You are so welcome, Frank!
My favourite is solitaire and gin rummy! Great games for the mind!
I can’t wait til you come to visit so I can have someone to play gin rummy with in real life! LOL
I know these games! I have always played solitaire and word search since I was a kid. It was a really fun game!
I used to go to the dollar store as a kid and ALWAYS ask my mom for a new word search book. I would go through them in a day or so.
I am such a huge fan of online games. Solitaire is definitely one of my absolute favorite games to play online for sure.
I get my daily serotonin boost when the match perfectly works out and I can complete it. LOL
