Hello and welcome to day 27 of Blogtober! There are only 4 days left. I can’t believe it. In my constant scouring of the internet, I came across another fun little Halloween tag from A Geek Girl’s Guide.
When does the Halloween season start for you?
It used to start October 1st, but since getting with Mike and it being his FAVORITE Holiday. I am lucky if I can get him to wait till Mid-September.
Do you have any Halloween traditions?
Start decorating mid-September. LOL and we buy one big Halloween prop for the year.
What is your favorite Halloween memory?
Recently as of a few years ago when my sister dressed up for Halloween when we took my nephew’s trick or treating. She never dresses up. But for this one particular Halloween, she bought a sexy vampire outfit and I was dressed as Mary Poppins. We were polar opposites, but we had such a blast.
Do you decorate for Halloween?
What has been your favorite Halloween costume you’ve worn?
This year’s costume. I am hand sewing a Winifred Sanderson Costume. It is almost complete. I just have to paint on the gold symbols on her jacket and at the jacket clasp.
If you could be in a Halloween movie (horror or not), which would you choose?
Hocus Pocus! There is no other choice.
How do you plan on celebrating Halloween this year?
We have our whole front yard decorated. I have almost 1000 pieces of candy. What I will be doing is sitting outside giving out candy while Mike scares the trick or treaters. I am just there to have a good time!
Have you ever carved a Jack-O-Lantern?
Yes. We didn’t do it this year because I got 5 fake pumpkins for free on Facebook Marketplace. But here is a video of when we did a couple of years ago. You can also watch the Youtube Video of us carving them.
What is something you want to do to celebrate Halloween one year?
Celebrate Halloween in Salem Massachusetts. Mike is from Boston and always talks about how awesome Salem celebrates Halloween. We went in June of 2018. I definitely want to go again during Halloween.
What is your Halloween costume this year? If you don’t have one, what would you like to be?
Winifred Sanderson
Do you enjoy a super scary Halloween or a more lighthearted spooky Halloween?
I like a mixture of both. It is not Halloween night without a little fright!
How would you spend a Halloween at home versus going out?
I don’t go out on Halloween anymore. It brings Mike and me so much joy to have the neighborhood kids and parents come to our house. We love when they compliment our house and want to take pictures.
Why do you love Halloween?
Honestly for the longest time I wasn’t. Halloween was just another day for me. But slowly over the years Mike decorations and I enjoy it. But I don’t think I fully enjoyed Halloween because we never had the opportunity to give out candy. We never had kids in our neighborhood in the last 2 places we lived.
Last year was the first year Mike could decorate where people could ACTUALLY see it. It was the first year we got to hand out candy. Last year was probably the first year in a long time that we actually really enjoyed ourselves because we saw how much joy we brought others.
