My Halloween costumes throughout the years

Guess what, folks? Halloween is just around the corner, and I’ve been eagerly counting down the days – only 13 more to go! Yep, I’m the one who’s keeping track, and let me tell you, the excitement is through the roof this year. I can’t wait to rock my Halloween costumes and have a blast!

You see, for most Halloweens in the past, I was stuck at work, but I managed to snap a few pics on those precious occasions when I did get to go out. So, let’s dive into the nostalgia pool and take a stroll down memory lane, checking out my Halloween costume evolution. Trust me, there have been some incredible highs and, well, a few lows along the way! 🎃✨📸

1990

Back in 1990, I was just a little 5-year-old, and Barbie was my absolute favorite thing in the world. So, naturally, that year’s Halloween costume had to be Barbie! I couldn’t have been more thrilled with it. The only hiccup was the mask, which was a tad too big for my tiny face, and it kept slipping off. But let me tell you, the joy of being Barbie made it all worthwhile!

2010

Fast forward to 2010, and I decided to get a little spookier. I transformed into a, well, “sexy(?) zombie.” Yep, I went all out with rotting skin, and my skull was peeking through. It was my first experiment with special effects makeup, and I must say, it turned out pretty badass. All I used was some toilet paper, Elmer’s glue, a piece of clear plastic painted white, and some budget-friendly Halloween makeup. Who knew that a DIY zombie could be so much fun?

2011

Now, in 2011, I took a rather unique approach. I had an old wedding dress lying around (long story behind that one), and I decided to repurpose it into something extraordinary for Halloween. So, I transformed it into a burlesque dress and went as a broken doll. It was a creative twist on the usual costume, and it turned quite a few heads at the party!

In 2012, I decided to take my special effects makeup skills to the next level. I wanted to create a spine-chilling effect by exposing my “teeth” and crafting an exposed, protruding brain along with a rotting wound on Mike. Let me tell you, it was a blast! I was absolutely thrilled with how it turned out, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride in my creativity.

Fast forward to 2015, and we had a last-minute costume change. What started as a work-related costume idea transformed into our Halloween night outfits. I stepped into the shoes of Mary Poppins, and Mike painted his face to resemble an ICP clown. Sometimes the best costumes are the ones that come together spontaneously!

2016

Now, 2016 was a bit different. I had to work on Halloween night, and the challenge was to find a costume that wouldn’t interfere with my headset at work. I ended up going with a kitty costume that kept things simple and practical.

Our 2020 Costumes

In 2020, I had a few busy Halloween nights at work again, but I managed to squeeze in some last-minute costume fun. I went as Wednesday Addams, embracing that timeless spooky charm. Mike took on a Grim Reaper-inspired look, adding a playful twist to the classic Halloween imagery.

Our 2021 Halloween Costumes

This year, our creativity knows no bounds. I’m taking on the ambitious task of hand-sewing a Winifred Sanderson costume, bringing one of my favorite witches from Hocus Pocus to life. Meanwhile, Mike is donning the iconic Jason Voorhees costume from Part 4, his all-time favorite movie character. It’s a dream come true for me to become an evil witch for Halloween, and we can’t wait to share the results with you!
