Alright, my little fruit loops! Line up! We are about to move our bodies like we have never moved our bodies before! It is time to unpotato our day! Put on some sneakers and let’s get into how to move your body more during the day!
Was that enough exclamation points for you! This means I am serious!!!!! hahaha
The whole point of this blog is to share what I have been doing to be a better version of myself. I share 100% of what I am doing to inspire others and at the moment I am always committed to what I am writing. However, I am human. I have some ups and some downs. There are PCOS symptoms that just take over and make it to where I don’t want to do anything.
It’s 100% okay
The only thing I might get done that week is a blog post. That is 100% okay. I don’t beat myself up about it. I may think about it multiple times throughout the day and just think “damn man”. But what can I do? If my mind, body, or soul is not into it… I have to listen. All I can do is hope for a better tomorrow.
Even when I have down times I am still killing it in every other part of my personal growth journey.
I have been manifesting great things in my life.
The toxic people have been removed.
Slowly working through past trauma.
But the one area I have kept slacking on was being physical. You know exercise, which is lame because I wrote a post about getting healthier in May of 2020. And I just realized that it has been almost a year.
Gym Life
We were doing great. Going to the gym any chance we got. In 3 months I lost 15 pounds and that was amazing. That is probably the most weight I have lost since finding out I have PCOS. There was a minor setback our car died in August. So from August 2020 till February of 2021, we didn’t have a car to get to the gym.
I was trying at-home workouts and I couldn’t get into them. I am the type of person that needs to be in a gym. Because there is nothing else to do at the gym except workout. At home, I was distracted by all the things I had to do.
I made a promise to myself that even if I couldn’t get to the gym, I still wanted to move my body more. Even if it was just getting 10,000 steps in a day. I knew 100% I was not reaching that goal on my own. But how was I to do that why at home? I barely leave the house.
Trying to keep track
I was using my phone to track my steps for months, but I knew it wasn’t accurate because I don’t carry my phone with me all the time. So for Christmas Mike got me a fitness tracker off of Amazon. It is not my favorite, but it does the job. Now I all I needed to do was move my body. The first thing I did was start off slow… like really slow.
I know I talk a lot about myself, but I am going from being very sedentary to being active. Right now, I knew my body right now as it was, was not made to jump right in. But I want to share the ways that I have been moving my body, got my steps in without actually realizing I was doing it. I have lost 5 pounds since I started doing this at the end of February. That means I have lost 1 pound a week. I am happy with that. So let’s get into it!
Move your body March
I like to call this the move your body march. March in place doing odd things around your house. I march in place while I am doing the dishes, while I am folding laundry. When I am trying to find a show to watch on Netflix. I may even do it while watching the Netflix show.
It doesn’t matter what I am doing. If I noticed that I was standing still doing something for a long period of time… I would just start marching. Now I only do this in the house. I might do it a little bit if I am standing in line at the grocery store, but not too much. I don’t want people to stare or think I am about to pee my pants. haha!

Walk the Perimeter
I have spent many many nights flash dancing in my kitchen to get steps in or walking room by room of my house to get ALL my steps in before I go to bed. I purposely leave things in different rooms for me just to walk to go get them to put them back. Yes, am I creating more work for myself…. abso-fucking-lutely! But it is a small price to pay to move my body more while at home.
Now working from home I need to make moving my body a priority. I am not walking to jump on the public bus to go to work, I am not walking around an office building all day. Nor am I on my feet god knows how many hours a day. I need to do what I can to move and to stop making excuses.
Get fit with Rick
A video came up on my for you page on TikTok recommending this YouTube channel to me called “Get fit with Rick“. I highly recommend this. Rick Bhullar does at-home fitness step videos to help you move your body more. My favorite episode of his so far is the 90s because it brings back the childhood music I loved. I forget what I am doing and most of the time I end up dance rather than stepping. Which is still 100% okay.
Walk around the block
I am lucky enough to have a “little” lake in my neighborhood. I tell myself I am only going to do one lap. Just get one lap in and then you can come home. Well once I am out there I end up doing about 4 laps. Psych yourself up, baby!
Even if you just do a lap… that is better than nothing. Throw some headphones in listening to a podcast, a badass playlist, a true crime. Anything that gets you out of your head to where you don’t think about you walking. If I don’t have something to distract me I will think about my walk and stop halfway turn around and go home.
Move your body Outside
My favorite thing in the world… I NEVER thought I would be saying this is… but my favorite thing in the world is walking trails. Mike and I are always on the hunt for a good trail to walk. We have been to some amazing trails with caves, alligators, wild boar, rivers, sinkholes… not all at the same time. Each was a different one.
A random trail we found on the side of the road one day was the first trail I walked 9 miles in 3 hours. That is insane to me. My legs were numb, my feet were non-existent. I don’t know how I got back to the car, but damn was I proud of myself! There is just something about being outside just walking, chatting, and looking at nature. So relaxing.
Clean your House
This is my favorite. When I get a bug up my butt and I deep clean my whole house. You best believe I am getting my steps in. I go from room to room and work my magic from top to bottom. Climbing on beds, crawling under the bed. Anything and everything to get my house in tip-top shape.
House cleaning is a full-body workout. Carry laundry to and from the washer/dryer. Handwashing dishes. OMG making a king-size bed by yourself! It takes forever!
Ready to move your body?
No matter what your reason for being home is… there is no reason why you can’t get your steps in. Take a look at what you do around your house and what you could do to add some steps to it. Just add a little bit more each day. If you are not used to doing 10,000 steps a day shoot for 5,000. Something more than what you are already doing!
I hope this inspired you to move your body a little bit more while you are at home. If you want to join me on Tiktok to do my live steps workout with me you can find me at Ourredonkulouslife and my fitness profile is Redonkulousfitness. I go live on my main account because I don’t have 1000 followers on my fitness page yet. But once I do I will be going live there.
Tell me in the comments what you do to get steps in during the day!
Until next time, Have a great day!

Great tips! I work from home and feel like I go hours without moving!
I feel ya. Me too. I spend so much time sitting at this dang computer.
I really need to move more. I used to exercise during the lockdown but I’ve found that I suddenly lacked good physical activity now that I’m back in the office.
I know I need to move my body more period. When you spend so many hours sitting at the computer working it takes a toll on you.
Right now I’m about to do some pilates and yoga, but I miss going out. Hiking, walking. My muscles are suffering a lot!
How do you like pilates and yoga? I have been curious but never tried it.
We have so many stories to deal with everyday. I hope we can move forward now.
I am unsure what you are talking about?
One of the many, many, many downsides of Covid and working remotely from home is that I’m moving even less than before. Yet, I bought a bike so I’m at least cycling…baby steps, baby steps 😉
I couldn’t even buy a bike here for the longest time. They were all sold out. I did buy rollerblades though. It has been years since I have used them… So I am a bit rusty.
A very important and useful post Michelle.
Working from home, I have been keeping my body moving by going running and walking (including taking our dog for walkies), as it is important to get outdoors and into the fresh air.
Thanks for sharing!
I was taking walks around the lake near my house to see the geese, but a neighbor called animal control and took them away to a sanctuary. They have lived here longer than those neighbors. I was so sad.
this are all correct,,,but for me first thing first waking up and thanking the creator for the new day would be great..when you wake up don’t get up suddenly freshen the mind and stretch a bit…then drink at least 2 glass of water not cold and start to walk around the house or yard..then nice coffee and breakfast chat with family shower then start my day looking forward heads up
I definitely need to stretch first thing in the morning. If I don’t I am stiff the whole day.
If I can go for my usual 20 minutes walk around my area I just walk up and down the stairs and in my garden to keep my body moving.
I love that. You have to have a home routine equivalent to your daily routine in case something happens.
Thanks for the tips and practical guide for moving your body. in fact, taking a walk like choosing the stairs over lift is something very simple, yet lots of people ignored. I think this is a good way to move your body, too. – Knycv Journeying
The incline of the stairs kills me. I still do it… sometimes. LOL
I could relate to this. We’ve been staying at home for so freaking long already that we feel like there’s no reason to move lol. Workouts have been super helpful for me tho and really boosts my mood! Haha
I find it boosts my mood too.
What I usually do is put walk at home videos on YouTube to do in the morning especially when it’s cold outside and I just follow the steps. But I like the idea of marching in place while doing the dishes. I’ll try that as well! Thanks for the tips 🙂
I am trying to come up with new ways to get my steps in while at home. I really like the marching in place while doing the dishes.
If I can’t go out, sometimes I help my mom with the house haha. Cleaning the house is good to keep moving.
Cleaning the house is how I move my body the most. hahaha
